Washington State Contractor License Bonds

Washington State requires contractors to be insured, with general liability insurance, and bonded to receive a license from Labor and Industries Contractors Registration Board.

Washington Contractor License Bonds have two common categories, a Specialty Contractor Bond or a General Contractors Bond.

The Washington State Specialty Contractors Bond is in the amount of $6,000, and with excellent credit may be purchased for as little as $140 a Year.

The Washington State General Contractors Bond is in the amount of $12,000, and with excellent credit may be purchased for as little as $180 a Year.

If you perform only one trade you will need a $6,000 Specialty Contractors Bond, if more than one trade, you will be required to have a $12,000 General Contractors Bond.

We actively work with many bonding companies and in most cases we can issue a bond from our office the same day you contact us, h
owever, poor credit can cause the price of a bond to increase substantially.

Additionally, prior judgments against a bond and other issues may make some individuals less likely to qualify.  The most efficient process to securing any type of contractor bond is to work with someone who has extensive contractor bonding experience.

If your current plan is your "generic insurance professional" aimlessly shopping your bond application to insurance companies, you deserve better and you are taking a long and usually more expensive route.
